Shelf edge smartphone dock
thingiverse
I have a shelf on my desk that holds up my monitor. I discovered that a standard dock was too bulky, so I came up with this dock that keeps the phone hovering above the shelf using minimal space underneath it, and allows it to stay charged at all times. With these dimensions, it fits an iPhone 5 even when encased in a thick case. It should be useful for any smartphone or tablet that is thinner than or equal to 10mm in size. There are two STL files available: one is designed for a 7.75 mm shelf and includes the Apple logo. This design consists of two parts as well. The other file was created to fit a 1.85 mm glass surface, and it does not feature any logo. You will need two identical copies of this design to create the finished product. Due to printing complications, the supports that keep the phone secure from falling in this design were very thin, but even if they break, the phone remains stable due to its incline. If you find that either design doesn't fit your shelf, you can try rescaling it, possibly just along one axis. Scaling up to 10 times may be necessary (Note: default Inventor settings export STL files in centimeters instead of millimeters).
With this file you will be able to print Shelf edge smartphone dock with your 3D printer. Click on the button and save the file on your computer to work, edit or customize your design. You can also find more 3D designs for printers on Shelf edge smartphone dock.
