In my recent reverse engineering exploration, I discovered some intriguing aspects utilizing verniers. As part of training, we used a clock (approximately 30 minutes per task - not overly rapid but highly entertaining). For one instance, I created a progressive tool for manufacturing purposes as an additional exercise: Progressive press tool.
