The carpet was rendered in 3ds Max 2013 using V-Ray 2.40.03, but saved in Max 2010 format. The scene consists of two objects: a carpet and splines (hair_spline). To fix hair that doesn't open to scale, go to the settings for hair and fur, scroll down to tools, and activate the "Recomb From Splines" option with spline_hair specified. Then delete the splines once the desired shape is achieved. Adjust the amount of hair and segments as needed - 450,000 and root thickness 2 are set on this carpet. For weak computers, reduce the amount of hair significantly and lower the root thickness to 3-5. Save in obj or fbx formats without wool. Before rendering, go to the Rendering - Effects tab, click Hair and Fur, and select mr prim mode below. If rendering in the crown, remove the daw in Mr parameters with Apply mr Shader, then drop the texture by expanding Material Parameters into tip color and root color cells.
