Sheep Embryo with Animation
sketchfab
This is an embryo at Carnegie stages 15 - 16, roughly 36 to 39 days old. It's easy to spot the body wall, developing limb buds, umbilical cord, and a large central swelling housing the liver and heart. Visible around the head are pharyngeal arches. These detailed models were created from a carefully sectioned 10mm embryo obtained from the University of Glasgow's extensive digital collection. Each model is made up of 10µm thick sections, stained with H&E at a ratio of one in six, originally designed for use on light microscopes. The creation of these models was part of a research project undertaken by Keiran Tait as part of his MSc Medical Visualisation and Human Anatomy coursework (2019).
