Sheep Embryo Heart

The embryonic heart of a sheep at Carnegie stage 15 - 16, occurring between 36 to 39 days, displays a remarkably similar structure to that of an adult heart. Notably, the primitive atria and ventricles are clearly visible, while the outflow tracts shown here will eventually develop into the pharyngeal arches. These models were created from actual serial histological data as part of a dissertation project for the MSc Medical Visualisation and Human Anatomy program (2019) by Keiran Tait.
