A fundamental model of a Coal Face Cutting disc, this simplified version serves as a basic explanation of its application. Over time, numerous variations emerged in mining engineering. The Vanes on the cutting disc were engineered to propel cut coal outward onto an AFC (Armored Flexible Conveyor), which conveyed the cut coal away from the face and transported it to a series of conveyors leading out of the mine.
