Shaving mug lid

Shaving mug lid

When I retired I stopped shaving daily. I noticed that without a daily shave, my shaving soap would collect lint, dust, and the other day it had trapped a rather large spider!Time to put a lid on it. :) I've been using this method of shaving for over 50 years now, and I actually don't know anybody else that uses such equipment. But if you do, and you have a shaving soap mug, hopefully this will be of some use. If you scale it in the X and Y in your slicer you can probably get pretty close to your cup's dimensions, though keep in mind the knob might start to look a little strange. The dimensions are 115 mm overall diameter with the inside lip at 97 mm diameter.I suggest printing this with high infill and thin layers. It will need support for the lip. I used ZYLtech Ceramic White PLA at 0.12 mm layer height, 3 walls with one alternate, 20% gyroid infill, tree supports. I printed the prototype at 0.28 mm layer thickness and 5% gyroid infill. It worked, but there were some gaps between lines on the shallow curve of the top. As always, your printer and filament are a unique combination, so I'd use my settings only as a starting point.Note that I left the top of the knob flat for monograms or whatever. This left a tiny sharp ridge right at the last layer that needed a touch of sandpaper.
