Sharpie holder for Ultimate Filament Colorer

The Ultimate Filament Colorer by beebenutz is a technique of colouring filament by passing it through the ink sponge inside a Sharpie marker before it feeds into the hotend. The pigment mixes with the plastic inside the hotend, producing a permanent color that doesn't rub off. If you want to try this out, I wrote a comprehensive guide to the technique here. I've also documented the colors you get when you colour white PLA with Sharpie ink here. This holder was made to complement the technique. It does three jobs: it holds the Sharpie vertically so that the filament can pass through it and into the extruder with as little kinking — and friction — as possible; you can use it as a color swatch if you print it in the colour of the Sharpie it will hold, as I did in the photo above; and you can use it to store the Sharpie after use. Put the cap on the end so that it covers the hole you drilled into the bottom of the Sharpie. Put a piece of tape or putty over the filament exit hole at the bottom of the holder. Print Settings: Rafts - Doesn't Matter; Supports - No; Resolution - 0.2; Infill - 10 Post-Printing: The injection molding flashing around the Sharpie's barrel makes its outer diameter quite variable. I used a Knife Edge Reamer to widen the opening in this model just enough to make a very tight fit around it. You can also sand or trim the barrel, but the reamer is much faster and cleaner.
