My 3rd-grade students created numerous 3D designs, each one showcasing their skills. Working in groups, they applied the engineering design process to find solutions for real-world problems. One group took on the challenge of helping a classroom teacher who was fed up with students sharpening pencils during lessons and reading time. The noise from the loud sharpener was disrupting class. To solve this problem, the students designed a solution that effectively communicated their message and met the teacher's needs.
