SharkCar and BryceMobile Pinewood Derby Cars
prusaprinters
These are the Pinewood Derby Cars from my two sons in 2020. They started with my boys making hand sketches showing what they wanted. My oldest wanted a batman themed car, and my youngest… he wanted shark car. We sat down in my office and modeled up the details from their drawings. Each design was printed, glued, primed, and then they sanded… and sanded… and sanded. They complained about all the sanding, but I think the results speak for themselves with the final paint job. Added note, if you print in PLA you can heat up and tweak the sharks fins for some realistic flair before painting. Both of the boys won for visual categories, and also won for speed. They are designed to use most of the pinewood car tricks (3 wheel contact, slight caster to rail ride, pockets high and far back for tungsten weights to maximize center of mass potential energy). I have provided my native template files from Solidworks in Pack-and-Go format. I also included a Step and Fusion360 export. Take them and use them to make your own iterations and designs.
