Whitney Potter, a.k.a. Shapespeare, co-host of the 3D Printing Today Podcast, created an Arduino-driven photo capture system for photogrammetry and shared a tutorial on how to build your own using Instructables. To learn about building, wiring, parts, and more, check out the original post. This article will cover alternative printed parts and software. The following components are included: * A case for the Arduino and LCD * A clip to mount the EasyStepper driver board on the Arduino * A rotating platform compatible with Nema 14 or 17 motors * Modified software Components in the picture include: * Arduino Mega 2560 - The case is designed around the Elegoo version, featuring a full-size USB port. Be aware that there may be variations among these boards. * Sainsmart LCD * EasyDriver Stepper Motor Driver * NEMA 14 or 17 motor * Three or more 623ZZ bearings * M3 screws Stepper Driver: The stepper driver is mounted as shown in the pictures, with its pins secured to the back side of the board. It's then clipped into place. Case: The case folds around the LCD and Arduino, held together by two short flathead M3 screws. The buttons should be relatively loose; if they're too tight, try scaling them down for easier operation. Platform: Available in Nema 14 and Nema 17 sizes (the author hasn't tested the Nema 17 version), the motor platform comes with optional base and bearings, which are primarily necessary for heavy objects. It features a dozen bearing mount points to accommodate various configurations. Software: The author modified several buttons and made some changes to the code. The modified version is included in the scanner_firmware.zip file. Future updates will be made as more scanning experiences are gained. The changelog includes: * Saving the number of steps to EEPROM when starting a scan * Swapping controls (UP/DOWN for rotation without trigger, RIGHT to change number of steps) * Displaying the amount of rotation in degrees * Tweaking display text * Fixing issues with postWait state not reached and display refresh/crawl * Refactoring and reformatting Filaments Used: * Atomic Filament Ruby Red PETG * Metallic Silver PLA * Pearlescent Blue PLA * Impact Resistant White PLA
