The Altocraft spindle on Shapeoko2 arrived in December. However, it hits the top of the z-axis bracket due to its positioning on the stock spindle mount, reducing carriage height. To address this issue, a mount add-on is available; it pushes the tool outwards and aligns it vertically, providing clearance at the z-axis's top. Initially, print the mount at 20% infill and .3mm layer height for quick prototyping. However, for long-term use, consider increasing infill to 90%. The top mount utilizes the original bolts, while the bottom one requires M5x30mm screws for attaching to the aluminum base. It also uses a capture nut and M3x30mm bolt through the base's cap. Be cautious not to use bolts longer than 30mm, as they may hit the mount. Depending on your milling depth, you might need to adjust the z-axis rail assembly on the sub gantry to maintain tool proximity to the MDF board; this can be done post-assembly.
