Shapeoko 3 Enclosure 25mm/1" Aluminum Extrusions with Drag Chain
thingiverse
This is my custom enclosure for my new Shapeoko 3 desktop CNC, and I'm confident it can be adapted for any CNC/3D Printer using 25mm / 1" aluminum extrusions. Twenty-five millimeter or one inch aluminum extrusions work perfectly with a quarter inch plexiglass or lexan sheets because they slide in smoothly between the middle lining or ridge, which is why I chose them instead of the more popular 8020/20mm extrusions. The quarter inch plexiglass was selected for protection against possible flying debris such as broken bits. I designed and printed all the corners and brackets myself rather than buying metal ones because I'm on a budget, and I needed to put my two 3D printers to use. Besides, it was fun to design! Nearly everything is tapped for M5 screws except for the door hinges which are held together with #6 screws since I had plenty of them lying around. The back vacuum hose adapter is 52mm in diameter, fitting perfectly on my shopvac. For the drag chain, I chose 15x30mm ones available on Amazon for $13ish because they are semi-opened and allow all cables to fit without any snaking issues.
