Shaky Dice (Stargate Dice)
prusaprinters

While in the process of creating my Stargate Game, I created these special dice - No MMU needed, and no supports.

These dice are printed in two parts - first, a solid square block is printed in whatever color you choose (I used Inland Silk Gold & Inland Silk Silver for the block and Inland Black PLA+ for the shell). Once the block is printed, you load an opposing color, and print a “dice shell”. Towards the end of the print, there is a pause, and you drop in the block inside the shell. Then the print finishes up with the block inside!

I have included STLs for both the block and the shell. Fit is just right on my MK3S.

I have also included pre-sliced Gcode. These were created on PrusaSlicer, and included two dice.

Update 2022-01-10: Recommend scaling the outer shell at 105% for an easier fit!

Printing the dice:

Load whatever color you wish for the block. After printing, carefully remove the block, keeping the orinetation exactly the same. Set it aside.

Change to your second color, and start printing the shell. I have a color change built in to my Gcode. When the print pauses, carefully slide the blocks down into the shell.

The block needs to be flush with the top of the shell. Change filament (to the same color), and allow the print to finish.

Share your prints and leave a comment!
