ShakaSistaz "Sally&Peppa"
thingiverse
Some ideas just pop up out of nowhere, without any warning signs. So, I sat on the table and asked for some salt, and in that moment, it hit me: having a few extra salt shakers would be great. At the same instant, I remembered the lumber I got from the saw mill just a few days before, and suddenly the idea was born: let's make some beautiful salt and pepper shakers out of oak and walnut. As I grabbed 20 mm hardwood, another brilliant idea struck me - making interlocking parts would be fantastic. They should be machined from one side only to simplify the process as much as possible. I used my trusty desktop CNC machine by [Stepcraft](https://www.zenziwerken.de/my-cnc) and a very nice 3 mm high-grade endmill specifically designed for woodworking. The design was created in Fusion360, which is an amazing piece of software that still has room for improvement in terms of speed. For the first time, I used its function to create a drawing from the 3D parts, which helped me set up my toolpaths since the CAM part of Fusion is still a bit complex for me at this point. The PDF with the design and setup instructions is included in the downloads. I even added an STL file with the parts, but unfortunately, I haven't had the chance to try them out yet because I don't have access to a 3D printer right now.
