Creating a basic shaft in CATIA V5 involves several steps that are easily followed by anyone familiar with the software. First, launch CATIA V5 and create a new part to begin your design process. Next, define the origin point of your part by clicking on the coordinate system icon located at the bottom left corner of the screen. To draw the shaft, select the "Extrude" tool from the 2D drafting toolbar and click on the plane where you want the shaft to be created. This will open up a new dialog box where you can specify the shape of your extrusion. Choose the "Revolved" option and enter the necessary dimensions for your shaft's radius and height. After configuring the parameters, click "OK" to complete the shaft design. You can then move on to creating a drawing for your part by selecting the "Drawing" tool from the toolbar and choosing the appropriate settings in the dialog box that appears.
