Still in the conceptual stage. Overall outer dimensions will be 4' x 3' x 2'. Intend to utilize a chain system for the Z axis traversal. Gantry currently undergoing redesign with the goal of implementing a quick attach/detach system that comes pre-assembled. Will mount an E3D V6 hotend directly to the mounting bracket, securely attaching it to the main body with a compact spring-loaded clip mechanism. Procured key parts from McMaster-Carr: A 90° aluminum T-slotted framing brace is being sourced under part number 47065T216 (possible to fabricate in-house). Additional needed items include: Aluminum T-slotted framing pieces of various lengths (2', 3', and 4') available as PN 47065T101; a total quantity of four such pieces will be required per respective length. It is also envisioned that the main body could be constructed using sections fabricated from all-thread-glued together material for enhanced rigidity. Critical to Z axis operation, an ANSI standard No. 25 roller chain is being considered under PN 6261K11 with a quantity of two ordered. The chosen 1055 steel has been specified as having a tolerable deviation of up to 0.03 mm in every three hundred mm; this steel component, designed for X-Y gantry usage, will come in the form of four one-two-meter-long shafts as PN 6112K136. Lastly, an assortment of high-grade sprockets fabricated from hardened steel is required under PN 6793K1. Each piece features nine teeth with a pitch of 0.25". In all, twelve units will be necessary for successful Z axis functioning.
