Two-Sided Test The two-sided test is used to determine if a sample's mean is significantly different from a known population mean. This test is also called the Z-test or T-test depending on what type of data you are working with and how large your sample size is. The null hypothesis in this case is that there is no difference between the sample and the population, which means we assume the true population mean equals our calculated sample mean.
