SexyCyborg's Chinese Maker Coin
thingiverse
Since all my fellow Makers on Twitter have been designing and printing their own custom coins, I thought it was high time for me to join in on the fun with my very own version. The character featured on it is the ancient Large Seal script version of zuò (作), which translates to "to do" or "create". My coin is printed at a precise .15mm thickness using a bronze-fill like filament that has a similar effect to real metal, although it doesn't quite polish up as well. To achieve its distinctive finish, I tumbled the coin with stainless steel pins for three hours before giving it a good rubdown with steel wool and finally polishing it with Brasso - big thanks to @Barnacules for their excellent tutorial! Wear thick gloves when handling this coin, though, since the steel wool and chemicals can be pretty harsh on your skin.
