The Sextupteron is a 6-DOF robot design, inspired by the Tripteron and Quadrupteron. Ideal for 3D printing on non-flat surfaces, it can be used with assembly robots, print layers not parallel to the xy-plane, and tackle extreme overhangs and negative overhangs. The design's development forum is located at forums.reprap.org/read.php?178,229935, and the creator seeks input on magnet selection for the central hub, as well as adding mounting holes and a bowden tube clamp to the same area. The central pulley/idler assembly also requires further development. This versatile design allows for a 3DOF or 6DOF bot configuration, with the potential for two independent 3DOF heads in the same space. It features easy stepper motor mounting at any corner and idler pulley mounting options everywhere a stepper can be placed. The 3DOF version is expected to be quicker to assemble and more affordable than other similar bots. The frame dimensions are a 500mm cube for outside and a 325mm cube for print, with a 116-degree range of movement. The bill of materials (BOM) includes 12 identical 500mmx75mm pieces made from chosen flat stock, eight unique plastic pieces, 45 smaller plastic parts, six 12mm x 510mm rods, 12 LM12LUU bearings, eight 608 bearings, six 605 bearings, six 185+/- tooth xl belts with a .1 pitch, 120 M3x16 screws and nuts, six M8 bolts of various sizes, and six stepper motors (Nema17). The creator encourages others to take the idea and run with it, as they do not currently have time to build the bot.
