Sewing Spool Box
thingiverse
This is a Box to hold sewing spools. It has a scissor mechanism for better access to the spools. It also has a little sidecar to hold needles. ### Printing **Parts** 1 Box (the front flap is printed in place with it) 1 Lid 4 Bottom spool holders 4 Top spool holders 1 Last bottom spool holder 1 Last top spool holder **Layer height** The box itself can be printed with a 0.3 mm layer height. Make sure to lower the layer height for the layers where the hinges are to 0.1 mm **Infill** Set the infill to 100%. This will make sure that the pegs are solid and don't come off the flat surfaces. This is important for the peg in the box. It has to withstand the pull when you are extending the scissor mechanism and therefore needs to be firm. In case the peg in the box snaps off you can print the spare peg and glue it into the box. ### Assembly of the scissor mechanism - Take a bottom spool holder and a top spool holder. - Place the center hole of the top part on the center peg of the bottom part. - Press down the top part until it snaps into place. You now have an X shape - Repeat this with the next top/bottom part pair so that you have a second X shape. - Join the two X shapes at their ends. - Make two more Xs and join them - finish by adding the part called "last bottom spool holder" and the part last top spool holder.
