I was impressed by Jerint's design, but it had one major limitation - my available magnets were only 12x2mm in size. To make the most of this constraint, I completely reworked the design from scratch to utilize these smaller magnets effectively. The revised design not only accommodates the 12x2mm magnets but also incorporates two additional magnets to securely hold a winding tape and a small handle for effortless rotation. In both instances, the magnets serve as a smooth bearing surface, ensuring seamless rotation. This redesigned mechanism requires six of the 12x2mm magnets - three for each half and one more for the handle. To address potential shearing forces, I strategically designed the handle to allow gluing a single magnet into its hole, allowing the two magnets within the handle to recess slightly.
