A pilot bushing provides a secure way to remove and hold carbon motor brushes in place. This bushing allows spring-loaded brushes to stay put, making it easy to remove and install the carrier plate without any hassle. The pictures will do a better job of explaining this process than words ever could. The 2-4 photo sequence shows how to remove the carrier plate, while installation is simply the reverse operation.
