My goal with this collection isn't to provide a complete printable version of the game or its components, so you don't have to buy the original game anymore. Instead, I want to give you something to enhance your Catan experience by adding custom-made pieces to your game. The creativity behind 3-D printing can help evolve the game through the ideas of its growing community. And no, I'm not going to sell these pieces! I combined YAWong's tiles with magnetic bases using 3mm round magnets that you can order online (e.g., http://m.tinydeal.com/de/product/216-x-3mm-buckyballs-magic-magnetic-diy-balls-neocube-puzzle-toy-p-53856). To insert the magnets into the base, use a flat, metallic tool so they stick easily and can be inserted with some force. Make sure the magnets don't come out again. To confirm you're using the right settings, print the test-base-piece. If the magnets fit correctly and still turn in the holes, keep those printer settings for all tiles and try to use the same filament. It's frustrating when you've printed a tile for hours only to find that the magnets don't stick. Check out this fantastic build guide from Buildxyz, which offers many useful tips on planning, printing, and painting the game: https://www.buildxyz.xyz/3d-catan-better-settlers-build-guide/ For painting, it might help to look at videos about how to paint miniatures, especially drybrushing techniques. My own painting skills are limited, but with YouTube instructions, I was able to achieve decent results. So, you can too!
