Settelers of Catan 2-6 Player Remix + Box
prusaprinters
I really liked the Catan set MioPrint maid with the layer changes to ad colour. However, I only wanted the 5-6 player expansion and not the other two, as such I designed my own box for just the parts required for the 2-6 player version.I also didn't like how when assembled the border of different terrain tiles and the coastlines mixed so I thickened the base and printed the first few layers of each as the same sand colour. This meant I also had to thicken the base of the joints and coastline/ports. while remixing the terrain tiles I decided to cover the holes for the joints, so the joining pieces now have to be placed under the hex tiles themselves - This makes it more of a faff to assemble but does look great when built.I also made my own set of printable development cards and reference cards using the first layer colour change method. I would recommend using a Catan Assist / Catan Board Generator app:https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kaybogerd.catanassist&hl=en_GB&gl=USThings to note; This is not compatible with MioPrint's original design as the terrain tiles have a thicker baseAll the files needed to print a complete Catan set should be included (let me know if anything is missing) some files are the same as Mio's original design but most have been remixed in some mannerThe Catan Game rules can be found online. There are a lot of little changes I have made to suit my preference or to make it work better for my box design.I will upload some better pictures of the box stacking/organisation at some pointApologies if there are inaccuracies or if you find perplexity in the following: _____________________________________________________________________________________For a compleat game for up to 6 players you need:Coastline/Ports/Joints:22x outside edges; 14 Port Out 8 Coastline Out16x Inside Edges; 8 Ports In 8 Coastline In44x JointsNB. The 3mf files should have the colour changes and the correct number of pieces required for a set. Boats:2x Sheep1x Rock1x Wood1x Wheat1x Clay5x 3:1NB. The set is designed not to have sailes for any of the boats as I couldn't find a neat way of storing them in my box designYou will need to add a filament colour swap at the top of the boat for the text to stand out. Development cards:5x 1 Victory point cards20x Knight Cars3x Monopoly3x Year of plenty3x Road buildingNB. This uses separate prints, printed around itself to get inlayed designs. print the detail/image inlay in black first then swap to a different filament and print the rest of the card.***See the video for an example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KV2AjyowXX4 Number Tokens:2x 12x 123x all the other numbersNB. This uses the same colour swap technique as mentioned above***You will want to print the 6 and 8 in a diffrent colour, (Probably red) Resource tokens:26x each resource typeNB. The Resource box takes 13 tokens, so to fill two boxes for each resource you need 26 of each of the 5 resources. We have always called it rock, not Ore, so I made my own rock token, but you can swap it with the Ore from Mio's original design if you prefer Bandit:1x bandit 1x stackNB. The stack requires multiple colour changes and then be glued onto the bandit - the 3mf should have the colour changes already set at the right layerMy bandit & stack is slightly smaller than the original to fit in my game pieces organiser Larges army & Longest Road:1x each trophyNB. The Longest road is Mio's original trophy but I remixed it with <Link> design from thingy verse to make a Larges army trophyI printed both of these on my resin printer For each of the 6 players (x6):15x Road8x Crossroads6x Towns4x CitiesNB. I call Settlements towns as they look like town hallsThe original game has 5 towns per player but I play with 6 as it goes neater into the boxThe 3mf File has a complete set for one player with the colour change. These can be very stringy when printing if you have bad setting/filamentThe crossroads are not required to play the game but make the game look nicer Resource Tiles:2x DeseretXx Fuzzy Sheep tokes (to glue or solder to the top of the sheep terain tile (I used X=42))6x Sheep6x Wood6x Wheat5x Clay5x RockNB. The 3mf files have the correct number of tiles of each terrain type, with the colour change, except the desert_Remix.3mf which you will need two of and doesn't require any colour change. You have to place the joints under the terrain tiles as there is a key on the underside for the Joints. On all the terrain tiles the holes for the joint keys have been covered except for the desert as I print my joint in the same colour as the desertsNo support is needed _____________________________________________________________________________________Box Composition:The stacking pieces are designed to slot into one another and around their associated terrain tiles (for the terrain tile stackers) I think with a 0.2mm tolerance. They can be printed with or without support for the overhang. You can stack up the parts in whatever order you like but here are my preferred means of erection;BaseN.B Has an inlay identical to the Lid. Prints using colour change on the first layer as described above for development cards*** The 6 hex spaces on the base then have the following placed on:2x Desert + Desert Stacker3x Joint Box1x Central Coastline BoxNB. The Desert Stackers and joint boxes should be the same heightThe Central Coastline Box is equivalent in height to the Next part of the stack VVV On top of the Deser Stackers and joint boxes (x5):2x Resource Token Box1x Clay + Clay Stacker1x Rock + Rock stackerNB. This should create 6 towers of equal heights On top of the 6 Towers put (x6):1x Wood + Wood Stacker1x Wheat + Wheat Stacker1x Sheep + Sheep Stacker Finally, the 6 towers can be completed by placing the 6 player boxes on top (6x):1x PlayerBoxHex1x PlayerBoxRoad1x LidNB. The lid uses the colour change method again***You can just do it two / three coloured or go all out and change for every resource colour (a huge pain to do!)The PlayerBox.3mf has both box parts with supports Game Piece HolderThe 2 d6, the thief, the 34 development cards, 11 boats and 2 trophies sit inside the Game Piece HolderThe Game Piece Holder stands upright in front of the central tower.NB. Also has an inlay similar to the lid and base using the colour change*** Lid Big print uses almost the entire MK2S Build plate and just wraps around the entire tower to sit flush with the base. looks cool if done in clear plastic. Also uses two colour first layer for inlay***
