Servo Valve from Ball Valve + Hobby Servo

Servo Valve from Ball Valve + Hobby Servo

Servo valves are used to control the flow of fluids such as water or gas with electrical signals. It's simple to find affordable solenoid valves like those found on dishwashers, but they are typically binary devices that are either completely on or off and can't adjust their output or turn on and off gradually. They also tend to consume a significant amount of electrical power while in use. Real servo valves offer excellent performance, but come with a higher price tag (hundreds of dollars). This project allows you to create a functional servo valve using a hobby servo and a plumbing valve at a relatively low cost ($10 for a servo and ball valve). To utilize this device, it's necessary to obtain the specific servo and valve used in its design (TowerPro MG995 and DAHL 0176, respectively), but adjustments can be made to accommodate different servos and valves. All dimensions for the servo and valve can be easily modified.
