Servo Quick Release for Dropping Camera
thingiverse
I had forgotten about this project until a friend asked me to design a drop mechanism for their drone or plane. This one is made to snap into the same bracket as my egg drop carousel, but can easily be adapted to suit different needs. The printed parts bear the weight of the object, taking strain off the servo motor axle. My goal was to increase the weight that we could lift and still consistently drop the load with the servo. I encountered problems printing all of the parts at once, so you may have to print the large frame separately from the smaller components. Once printed, use a paper clip or spring for the hinges and trim to size. You may need to heat the metal up with a lighter to help it bend into place. Then use another piece of metal to secure the servo horn to the "L" shaped bracket.
