Serpentine in Granite

Scientists successfully recreated a natural process by remelting a blend of granite and basalt with water present. The resulting mixture resembled taffy, containing water that supported an extreme-loving bacteria thriving in the rock's pores. This unique organism produced serpentine crystals from olivine rock, which accumulated in a crack to form vibrant green crystals. Brown proteins, potentially hydrocarbons, surrounded these emerald-like formations. Nearby surfaces displayed glacial polish.
