Serious Straight Drill Guide Jig
thingiverse
This is a jig that lets you drill straight holes quickly with a handheld drill. It's easy to use - simply line up your drill bit against the two walls and you're good to go. The jig is stable, takes up less space, and has a strong grip. It works with any round drill bit, even those forstner bits you've got lying around. Just don't try to use flat bits like spade drill bits - they won't fit. It's something my grandfather taught me. His original jig just used a 45-degree cut in a wooden scrap block. Over time, I lost many of these homemade jigs, because let's face it, they're just more wooden scraps! This time, I designed the jig with two important things in mind: compactness and reliability. That way, I can stick it to a pegboard and save some precious minutes making another one from scratch each time. For smaller areas like inside cabinets, space efficiency is crucial, so the foot print is minimized without sacrificing sturdiness. It's also a lot easier to hang onto with this setup - you won't be chasing after loose blocks of wood. I kept the height relatively low as well so that it wouldn't restrict how far down small drill bits could reach. The main requirement was for the V slot to accommodate not just small bits but large ones too - so no worries there!
