The guidelines for frosting application are as follows: 1. Ensure the cake is cooled before starting. 2. Apply a thin layer of frosting (also known as a crumb coat) to seal in any loose crumbs. 3. Chill the cake for 20-30 minutes after applying the crumb coat. 4. Apply a generous amount of frosting to create a smooth and even layer over the entire cake. 5. Use an offset spatula or bench scraper to smooth out the frosting, working from the top downwards. 6. Clean up any excess frosting around the edges with a warm, damp cloth. 7. Decorate as desired. 8.
