Serapis Figure (Left) at The Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge

The god Serapis originated from a powerful Egyptian hybrid deity, combining the distinct powers of Osiris, god of eternal life, and the revered Apis bull. During the Roman era, the cult of Serapis spread far and wide. Many impressive images of this mighty god have been discovered, ranging from intricately detailed busts to grand, life-sized statues. This smaller statue stands out for its refined drapery and exceptionally polished finish. If the god's head, Cerberus, throne, and footstool were included, these two sculptures (also featured on Scan the World) would be identical in style. This remarkable object is part of "Scan The World," a groundbreaking initiative introduced by MyMiniFactory. Through this non-profit endeavor, we are creating an extensive digital archive of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks, and landmarks from around the globe for everyone to access and enjoy absolutely free. Scan The World is an open-source community project; if you have interesting items nearby and would like to contribute, email stw@myminifactory.com to learn how you can join in on this collaborative effort.
