Of the Angels, the Seraphim are Supreme. There are none higher. When they deign to appear before Mortals it is usually with embellishments to hide their true identity, for Mortals are unworthy to see them in their true Glory. There are typically 2 Seraphim at the side of YHWH, alongside Her attendants the Thrones, and the Cherubim who Praise Her. The Seraphim have 6 wings as a sign of status, and to show greater deference by covering their head, and body with 2 sets of wings. Essentially, in Tsyir culture, using your wings to cover your body is the same as bowing your head, or kneeling would be amongst Humans. To the Seraphim, the gravest sin is disrespect against YHWH!
