SEPULCRO DE FERNANDO II
sketchfab
Fernando II was a king crucial to the completion of the compostelan cathedral, driving its finalization with a generous lifetime pension granted to Master Mateo in 1168. In 1180, he had written his preference for the compostelan cathedral as a place of burial and, at his death in 1188, just before the placement of the Pórtico de la Gloria's arches, his son Alfonso IX devoted all his effort to fulfilling his will, achieving it shortly after. This established the official compostelan Royal Pantheon, with Fernando II's mother Berenguela and grandfather Raimundo of Burgundy already part of it.
