Separation Agreement
thingiverse
I'm going through a divorce and decided to make my wife a humorous gift for Valentine's Day. The gift is a separation agreement ripped in half with a loop on top of each half, a play on breakable heart-shaped lockets you may see. I doubt she'll like it or wear it, but made it to lighten the mood and soften the blow of moving on from our relationship. Printer Brand: MakerBot Printer: MakerBot Replicator (5th Generation) Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: Doesn't Matter Resolution: Standard .2 mm Infill: 35% or less After printing, I noticed printer goop caused by user calibration issues. I designed this without overthinking it. While trying to copy old scroll images online and figure out how to import them and trace the outline, I realized all I needed to do was sketch a line then extrude it. So I drew a line in the shape of a scroll from the side perspective and extruded it. I added text which was moved and rotated into position and then using polyline, drew a crooked line down the middle. Then, using the split object command, I used the crooked line as the splitting entity and there it was. I added loops (torus split in half), regrouped the text, and combined. By exporting each half as a selection to Meshmixer and auto-repairing, the prints came out fine the first time. I scaled down by 50%, flipped one side, and printed both halves at the same time. Note: I needed to ungroup the text and regroup it to combine with the scroll body and loops on each side of the line.
