This project presents a cost-effective alternative for crafting corsets in theatrical costume shops. Initially unveiled at the 2019 SETC conference, it has undergone extensive research and testing to ensure optimal load and usability. Currently, test busks have withstood 60 hours of stress testing and have been successfully integrated into constructed corsets that can withstand normal wear and tear. Hand washing has been conducted, while machine washing is still being tested. The current STL version is five, featuring reinforcements on the tabs and posts. This project represents a collaborative research effort between faculty members from two universities: Rob Berls and Casey Watkins from UNC Asheville, and Kristin Grieneisen from Appalachian State University. As innovations are developed, improvements will be uploaded to this item. A sample of boning is included with this project.
