Sentinel Class Fast Response Cutter
thingiverse
This is a radio controlled ship modeled after USCG FRC, standing at 4'6" when printed at full scale. It can handle waves up to 10 inches high. The hull must be modified to accommodate any chosen propulsion system. For steering, differential thrust is used, and a bow thruster enables the vessel to turn within its own length at low speeds. A stern launch ramp allows for deployment of a Cutterboat, which I have also designed and can be found here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3927905 To see an example of this ship being built on a slightly smaller scale by someone who is doing a significantly better job of documentation and overall construction, visit this link: https://www.smc-elmshorn.de/Baubericht--g--Sentinel-Class--g-.htm The page is in German but Google's translation feature works reasonably well. Update 4: New printing instructions have been added. Update: Additional details were incorporated based on images. The backrail file must be trimmed according to the size of the servo used for the stern gate. A bilge pump was also added to handle minor leaks, which it mounts inside the hull just under the front deck and directs water to where it needs to go. I'm now using .3mf files due to their smaller size. Update 2: The "Big Super middle" file has been significantly reduced in size, from 103 Mb to 20 Mb. Update 3: The "Big Super middle small" file is even smaller, at 5 Mb compared to the previous 20 Mb.
