This mount replaces the inductive z-probe mount, allowing it to be directly installed in its place. It provides a secure attachment point for a DC42/Escher 3D differential IR sensor. The IR sensor kit comes with two small M2.5 bolts, but no nuts. To overcome this issue, I designed a little backing plate that has holes perfectly sized for the two nuts to self-tap. This allows the sensor to be easily slid up and down to achieve an optimal nozzle-to-bed distance when the probe is triggered. In my example, I used nylon M3 nuts as spacers, but tiny 3D-printed spacers would also work well. UPDATE: A longer version of this mount has been added, making it compatible with E3D volcano hot ends and other longer hot ends. It should still work with shorter ones. Print Settings Notes: Close proximity to the hot end requires the use of ABS or another high-temperature polymer.
