Semi Disposable Viral Face Shield

THIS PROJECT HAS NOT BEEN APPROVED BY ANY GOVERNMENT BODY - IT IS AVAILABLE TO PRINT AS-IS UPDATE Please follow the instructions for version 2 and use the bends in bendv2tighter.stl (for one) or bendv2tighter2.stl (for two). The former bend was only 120 degrees, the new is 180 degrees and provides more coverage. Version 2 is easier to put together and uses less plastic and therefore a faster print. I am uploading this project as there is a worldwide issue with a virus called the corona virus (or COVID-19). It is creating a shortage of mouth masks and goggles. This project is intended as a preventive method of keeping the virus at bay. You can, of course use a mask and/or goggles with this face shield as well. Unlike typical masks and goggles, you can affordably get rid of the clear plastic sheeting. I left some around so it could wrap back on it. Make the primary square that'll be in front of your eyes by putting the frame parts flat on the paper to form a square. Put hot glue carefully on each corner. Let dry. Form the two rectangles by halving two of the frame pieces twice. Arrange two rectangles with these pieces. Let dry Print as many of the FlexMesh2Quad and FlexMesh2Subwide as you need plus a little extra (you'll be forming a straight line along the HalfSubwide pieces later) to get it around your head and snap them together so they form a circle. On five of the quads, using needle nose pliers if you have them, snap the half subwide links in a row on one of the unoccupied links. With help from a mirror, tilt the half links while holding the rectangle you made earlier at an angle so when you put the plastic on the rectangle it won't hit your nose. Once you have the angle you want, set it down (undo the circle of links if you need to - it makes it easier just to have these half links, their quads and the frame) and support it (I used some glass drinking cups). Glue the half links and top of the frame to the half links. Let dry. Attach the two rectangles to each side. To make it easier I used one pass of clear packing tape to each side to keep them from slipping. I then used three bowls with parchment/wax paper over them and had the rectangles at setting at the angle that I wanted. Then glue along the two frames and repeat for the other side. Let dry. To put on the clear "shield" just use plastic wrap. Cut roughly around the sides and corners where there is extra. I left some around so it could wrap back on it. --- Notes on version 2: Version 2 was created after version 1 as I could see that they didn't look like other face shields and I wanted it to "fit in" better with current face shields out there. The idea is the same and should give comparable protection. The straw is propped up by some tape between the glasses. It isn't easy to see in the video so I am writing it here. I didn't include cutting the excess glue. This version especially needs as much support as possible for the bottom two corners. So I over glue. Carefully use scissors to get rid of an excess - but not too much! Thanks to noebobkrause for the original snap together parts and allowing remixes.
