Semi-Auto bed-leveler -- Creality stock printhead mount.
thingiverse
CallJoe shares a clever idea (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2524480) for utilizing low-cost digital tire-tread gauges as a "semi-automatic" bed leveler. Unlike the paper-under-the-nozzle method, where you guess whether there's enough friction on the page or not, or the auto methods, which rely on the probe sensing the bed before crashing, this approach provides accurate results by getting the printhead to the test point and then lowering the probe to read the number. This version is designed to permanently mount on the head, ensuring minimal slop in measurements and allowing for structure printing without supports. A gap engraved into the top allows the battery case to be slid open, making it a convenient feature. The probe is designed to mount on the holes of the right side of the stock Creality print head, replacing the auto-leveler part. This means it doesn't interfere with other stock functions since the part it displaces is replaced by it. If you've opted for a part-fan mount on the right, there are printable mounts available for the left side as well, and the vents on the left side are non-functional. The mount itself features recessed screw holes to accommodate M2x8mm sockethead screws, which are perfect for Creality sensors and match the threaded holes on the right side. While this print is tuned to align with the Ender 4 gantry, it may also work well with other Creality printers using this shroud.
