Seltzer Bottle Charge holder
thingiverse
This is a CO2 cartridge holder designed for older seltzer bottles. The seltzer bottle operates in much the same way as modern Sodastreams but uses a smaller single charge cartridge, secured in place with this charge holder as long as the bottle remains pressurized. Valves were first used in the 1920s. The original cap does not fit modern cartridges, so I created this charge holder to enable carbonation of water. Specifically, it fits seltzer bottles from Aerators LTD (pre-1920s). The thread on these bottles doesn't match modern adapters either, which is why this printed part was necessary. Disclaimer: Pressure can be hazardous; use caution and exercise your own judgment regarding risk. Print Settings: * Printer Brand: RepRap * Printer Model: RepRap Prusa i3 * Rafts: No * Supports: Yes * Resolution: 0.2mm * Infill Percentage: 40%+ Notes: Avoid printing the model "standing" (flat on a plane) as insufficient tensile strength between layers renders it unusable. Post-Printing: Fitting the Thread: The thread should be edited to provide sufficient tolerances for a smooth fit. If not, the part can be carefully heated with boiling water at the threaded end and then screwed onto the siphon to create additional threads (I had to do this for my first model, and it actually works better than one that was printed correctly).
