Around half the size of a standard 1kg filament box, printing two of these slim cases will be equivalent in size to the box itself. Measuring 20.5 x 10.5 x 2 cm, this compact design maximizes storage space within my dry box by filling the available area next to the filament. A notch at one end ensures a secure latch when closed. The walls of these slim cases are 2mm thick, but I've also successfully printed them with 1mm thick walls, which reduces print time by two hours per piece. This translates to a four-hour saving for the top and bottom combined. To achieve this, I moved the model 1mm below the bed in Cura. However, please note that printing these cases with 1mm thick walls may result in a slightly flimsier structure, and the top will not be flush with the box due to the missing 1mm at the top edge. It's essential to avoid this approach when working with PETG filament, as it tends to pop open due to its flexibility. A FreeCAD 0.18 file for these designs is included for your convenience.
