Self Watering Seed Starter

Self Watering Seed Starter

thingiverse

I set out to craft a self-watering seed starter tailored specifically for my hydroponics setup.\r\n\r\nMeant to hold a water bottle and six Grodan Rock Wool cubes in perfect harmony.\r\n\r\nThe water bottle threading and sealing mechanism requires refinement (current design features an open hole rather than a threaded one). To overcome this issue, I set the water bottle hole diameter to equal (ID+OD)/2. Following the print job, I employed a heat gun to soften the hole, allowing me to screw in the water bottle with relative ease. Nonetheless, a bit of PTFE tape was still necessary to ensure a secure seal.\r\n\r\nAll files related to this project have been uploaded, so feel free to modify the design and replace the press-fit hole with a properly threaded one for improved results.\r\n\r\nI'm actively working on version 2.0 of the seed starter. Key objectives include minimizing material usage, developing a more effective threaded solution for water bottle threads, and enhancing the finger recesses to facilitate smoother removal of Rock Wool cubes.
