Self-Watering Planter 2
myminifactory
This is the second version of my Self-Watering Planter. Project: Self-Watering Voronoi Planter 2 Objective: This project introduces students to botany and hydroponics, teaching capillary action in the process. Designed for elementary and middle school students in science or biology classes, this project requires no skill or prior knowledge. Lesson: After printing the self-watering planter, demonstrate how it works. Fill the bottom piece halfway with water, then fill the top piece with soil, plant seeds, and water the soil. Place the planters by a window sill, letting the seeds grow while teaching students about germination and photosynthesis. Choose the type of seeds and depth to which you delve into these topics; checking water levels every few days is essential. Duration: This lab's duration depends on seed germination and growth time plus printing time. It takes weeks but requires minimal effort. Grading: Assess student performance based on plant health and a quiz on learned material, with instructor discretion on specific grading criteria.
