The Perfect Pot - A Self-Watering Adaptation by thegreenthumb. Violets demand a gentle rim to cradle their leaves, protecting them from damage. I modified the original pot with a soft, rounded edge. To create a self-watering system, drill or enlarge the central hole in the top half of the pot to accommodate a wick. A nylon paracord (3mm or 1/8") is ideal for this purpose, as cotton can rot easily. You'll need only one wick. Ensure the wick ascends through the soil in the upper half, rather than resting on its bottom. When first used or if the system dries out, water from the top to saturate the wick fully. The accompanying images showcase small, medium, and large pots. The largest is depicted at 100% size, while the medium and small pots are scaled at 83% and 60%, respectively. Feel free to use any pot size you prefer!
