Self-centering tapered-thread Z-axis coupling [v2]
thingiverse
This is a completely new self-centering z-coupler. The thread is optimized for superior performance with 3D printing, and its overall length has been dramatically reduced. It's a cutting-edge parametric design, making it easy to create multiple sizes. I've come up with four different dimensions: all designed for a 5mm motor shaft and matching perfectly with 5, 6, 8, or 10mm threaded rods. You can ask me about different sizes if you need any. The updates keep on coming! Here's what I've done so far: 12/24/14: Coupler_5_12, coupler_6_12, and nut_12 are live. 10/17/15: Get ready for the [V2.5] coupler 6.35/8mm + nuts combo! 12/16/15: [V2.5] has got a brand-new coupler 5/3, 5/4, and 5/7 with their respective nuts. 02/04/16: The [V2.5] series welcomes its new addition – the coupler 5/6.35! 03/12/16: Time to meet [V2.5] coupler 5/5, right here! 05/26/16: Introducing [V2.5] coupler 5/8! Print Settings: * Rafts: Don't even worry about it. * Supports: Nope! * Resolution: Precision matters – we're going for a cool 0.15mm here. * Infill: This is a no-brainer; 100% it is! Notes: Print the coupler with brim or raft to ensure it doesn't fall off your printbed during printing. After you're done printing, keep in mind this critical note: if it takes too much force to push the coupler onto the shafts, consider increasing its size by 1% or 2%. Otherwise, they might not center perfectly.
