Self-centering tapered-thread Z-axis coupling for Anycubic I3 Mega
thingiverse
I had a wobbly Z axis and I replaced the original couplers with these remix of the amazing Self-Centering tapered-Thread Z-Axis coupling designed by loco. I tried to use them directly in my Anycubic I3 Mega but had two problems: - The nut is very close to the Z endstop and touches when it turns. I rounded the top half of the nut and now it rotates perfectly. - When I tried to disassemble it, I managed to remove the nut from the threaded rod but was impossible to remove the motor shaft nut from the z-coupler. In the end I had to cut the nut and the z-coupler broke too. I added a fixed nut to the Z-coupler body and now you can block the z-coupler and tighten or loosen the threaded rod nut or the motor shaft nut independently. Also, I created a 16 mm fixed wrench for this new nut. I didn't have a metal fixed wrench. The improvement in prints has been spectacular. Layers perfectly aligned due to the absence of wobbles of the Z axis. Print in PETG infill 100% without support. All models are in the correct orientation when you drop them into the build plate.
