Self-bailing scupper for Livingston LV12
thingiverse
My Livingston LV12 had self-bailing scuppers that were badly damaged when I bought the boat. Since there are no replacement parts available, I decided to design and print my own. There are two on the boat, one on each hull, so a total of two base, two outer and four gaskets (each clamshell has one outside and one inside the hull) will need to be printed. I printed the inner and outer clamshells in PLA, but ABS would be the best choice for durability. The gaskets will need to be printed in TPU or similar to actually function as gaskets. These are designed for M6 hex nuts that are captured inside the small "boxes" in the outer clamshell side and M6x20 flat head socket screws (the kind with the chamfered/beveled/angled head) through the inner clamshell inside the hulls. Some clean up will be needed inside the outer clamshell and in particular inside the nut capture boxes. Play with your print settings to minimize stringing. Each assembly needs to be finished off with a 5/8" snap-type brass hull plug that can be purchased nearly anywhere. While the boat is underway, remove the hull plugs and any water inside the hull will drain out. When the boat is slowing down or stationary, the hull plugs MUST be installed or water will flow back into the boat.Be safe out on the water!
