SELF ATTACHING MOUNTING BRACKET FOR SQUARE SECTION TUBE
thingiverse
This clamp will attach itself securely to a square section tube, similar to a tent leg or fence post. Its functionality relies heavily on friction. The mechanism itself is surprisingly simple, as demonstrated here: http://youtu.be/P2ic-tmQJ1I . This particular model was originally designed to support a wi-fi antenna that features a magnetic base, resulting in the washer placed atop the mast. The accompanying Rhino file has been included, allowing you modifications for various applications, and showcases the multiple design iterations - an earlier version might be better suited for your needs. Keep in mind that any attachments should consider the weight carefully. The locking mechanism is robust, but the plastic itself may not be, often breaking before the bracket gives way most of the time. Installation Instructions: Required items include: 12mm dia steel rod (should extend at least 500mm) M6x50mm hexagonal head bolt 32mm flat washer x 2 for Antenna base 3x brake pads (for mountain bike). Depending on your selection, you may need to adjust the design slightly; refer to the Rhino file to determine precise pad dimensions used here. Araldite or similar will be necessary for adhering washers onto parts and attaching the mast securely. Printing specifications: it prints effectively with a standard household printer, occupying most of what an Up! plus can handle at once. Be certain that each printed component is configured in 'solid' settings
