Self-assembling Virus - Easy Printing
thingiverse
I was captivated by Art Olsen's model of how icosahedral viruses can self-assemble through random movements alone (video: https://youtu.be/w57RxEYygeE). @jkrs created an incredible replica using 3x1.5mm magnets. This revised version makes the model easier to print. - Convert STL units to millimeters - Modify the exterior pattern to eliminate a large bridge section - Remove small text from magnet holes - Ensure manifold compatibility I highly recommend using strong superglue when adding magnets, as this design requires 120 of them and can be quite frustrating if they fall out during handling.
