Self-Assembling Virus Dodecahedron
thingiverse
This Dodecahedron/virus model requires 12 printed parts, each with 10 holes for 1/8" thick magnets (e.g., these). A total of 120 magnets are needed; mark the top face of each magnet for correct polarity. Assembly is simplified by assuming marked faces as positive poles. Slot magnets accordingly, with plus signs indicating upward-facing positive poles and minus signs downward-facing negative poles. Some printing precision may require gluing pieces. Once assembled, shake the model in a jar to trigger self-assembly of the Dodecahedron.
